Polling shows, when voters are informed, Jimmy, John, and Jane pay the price
Find Out PAC is launching a significant digital ad campaign aimed at holding three Texas Supreme Court justices—Jimmy Blacklock, John Devine, and Jane Bland—accountable for putting their partisan, anti-abortion politics above the health and rights of Texans. The ads will inform persuadable voters across the state across major digital platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, and Instagram, reaching them where they are most engaged.
“This is a multi-platform buy that zeroes in on voters who will make the difference this November,” said Gina Ortiz Jones, Founder of Find Out PAC. “These justices have repeatedly put their extreme political views ahead of Texans’ health, taking healthcare decisions away from women and doctors and handing them to politicians. Our campaign will make sure voters understand the stakes.”
The ads highlight the justices’ roles in extreme rulings that endanger the lives of women with complicated pregnancies. They aim to mobilize swing voters who, irrespective of party affiliation, support abortion to save the life of the mother. Supporting this effort, new polling released by Find Out PAC validates this significant shift in voter sentiment where 90% of poll respondents, including 84% of 2024 Trump voters, support access to abortion to save the life of the mother.
When likely voters are informed of the Texas Supreme Court’s extremist rulings and hear about the real-life stories of women suffering and being denied life-saving healthcare as result of those rulings, support for the Democratic challengers surges to a statistical tie. This signals a rare opportunity to unseat these far-right incumbents.
Historically, Texas Supreme Court races have followed partisan trends, with Democrats rarely mounting serious statewide campaigns. In 2020, the average margin in these races was nine points and nearly 14 points in 2022. However, the current statistical tie in these races, combined with a significant increase in voter motivation once likely voters are informed, highlights how crucial this issue is in Texas this November.
“Our polling clearly shows that Texans are fed up with the extremist rulings coming out of the all-Republican Texas Supreme Court,” Jones continued. “With the right resources and messaging, we will bring about the change Texas desperately needs at the statewide level.”
Angela Kuefler of Global Strategy Group, known for her success in guiding abortion-related ballot amendment campaigns in Kansas, Kentucky, and Ohio, conducted the poll.
“Based on the poll results, the question isn’t whether we have an opportunity. The question is whether we’ll take advantage of it. Texas is the epicenter for the number one electoral issue in the country–it’d be political malpractice not to invest in these Texas Supreme Court races given the moderate investment needed and significant potential upside. The Texas Supreme Court justices up for re-election have shown us where they stand—now it’s our turn to respond at the ballot box,” said Jones.
